Tour Plan

Day 1 — Travel to Nakuru & Afternoon Game Drive

Depart Nairobi early in the morning, around 6:00 AM, and enjoy a scenic 3–4 hour drive through the Rift Valley with a stop at a viewpoint for photos and fresh air. Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park around midday, enter through the gate, and complete park entry payment via eCitizen. After a light lunch or snacks, head out for an afternoon guided game drive along the lake shores. This is a great time to spot flamingos, pelicans, fish eagles, and other waterbirds, with chances of seeing rhinos and other wildlife. As the sun sets, visit Baboon Cliff and nearby viewpoints for panoramic views before heading to your lodge or campsite near the park for the night.

Day 2 — Full Day Birding & Safari

Begin the day early with a sunrise birding drive along the lake edges and acacia woodlands, when bird activity is at its peak and flamingos are often feeding. An optional guided birding tour lasting about 2–3 hours can help you identify unique and migratory species. Later in the morning, continue wildlife viewing in areas such as the rhino sanctuary, where you may also see buffalo and giraffes. In the afternoon, enjoy a picnic lunch at Makalia Falls or return to your lodge for a relaxed meal. A short late-afternoon drive to different birding hotspots offers excellent lighting for photography. End the day with dinner and an optional campfire at your accommodation.

Day 3 — Final Game Drive & Return

Start the final day with an optional early-morning bird walk led by park guides, offering a more intimate nature experience and excellent photography opportunities. Take in the last scenic views of the lake and surrounding landscapes before returning to your accommodation to check out. After a quick lunch, begin the afternoon drive back to Nairobi, bringing the birding-focused Lake Nakuru adventure to a close.
