Together, Tsavo East and Tsavo West make up one of the world’s largest wildlife sanctuaries—spanning over 22,000 km². Although they sit side-by-side, separated by the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway, each park offers a distinct and memorable safari experience.
Size: 13,747 km²
Landscape Character: Vast, open, semi-arid plains with minimal vegetation, ideal for long-range game viewing.

Yatta Plateau: The world’s longest lava flow, stretching an impressive 290 km.
Lugard Falls: A dramatic series of rapids along the Galana River, home to enormous crocodiles.
Mudanda Rock: A giant rock formation acting as a natural water catchment, attracting wildlife during dry seasons.
Size: 9,065 km²
Landscape Character: Mountainous, greener, and more diverse terrain sculpted by volcanic activity.
Mzima Springs: A stunning natural spring where crystal-clear water flows through ancient lava formations, complete with an underwater viewing chamber for observing hippos and fish.
Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary: A protected area dedicated to conserving the endangered black rhino.
